Transportation resumes along 2 highways

Problem of acute shortage of fuel and price rise of consumer items in the State is likely to end soon since transportation along the National Highway 2 is expected to resume soon.
It may be mentioned that movement of trucks along the National Highway 37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) continued on Tuesday night.
All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union president Y Bhupenchandra Ghosh said that shipping activities along the Imphal-Dimapur road will be resumed on Wednesday night since the Phesima road in Nagaland has been restored.
The union president also said that authorities of BRTF, Nagaland and Manipur Governments and escort Commander of CRPF have already communicated the latest development in this regard.
He said nearly 20 oil tankers from Nagaland side will be heading towards Imphal on Wednesday night with security escorts.
Most of the trucks being stranded along the National Highway are expected to reach Imphal by September 12, he said.
The shortage of petroleum products in the State will end soon since the transportation along the two supply routes have resumed, said Bhupenchandra.
He added that such problems can be avoided if people stop disturbing the national highways.
The union leader also appealed all not to disturb the two lifelines of Manipur in future.
Meanwhile, sources informed that loaded trucks moving along the Imphal-Jiribam road had already crossed Irang Bridge on Wednesday afternoon.
A report said nearly 508 trucks left Jiribam for Imphal on Wednesday with security escorts from IRB and Manipur Rifles.
