Over 300 vehicles stranded in Senapati, drivers aided

Senapati, March 10 2025:
Due to the ongoing indefinite shutdown called by the Kuki-Zo Council and backed by Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), more than 300 vehicles including passenger carriers and oil tankers are stranded in Senapati district.
Except few, almost all the stranded vehicles are stuck since March 8 when unrest erupted.
Meanwhile, Senapati District Truck Owners' Association, Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union, Manipur Drivers' Association together with Senapati police, assisted by personnel of T Khullen police outpost distributed water to the stranded drivers and their assistants, whose vehicles are stranded between Heng-bung and T Khullen.

While expressing gratitude to the truck associations and the district police for the timely assistance, some non-Manipuri stranded drivers appealed to the government authorities for urgent arrangement to continue their journey as many of the vehicles are loaded with perishable commodities like onion, potatoes, etc.
The drivers also mentioned inconveniences they are facing including absence of sanitary facilities, while adding that some of the truck operators are facing health issues.
There are presently 294 loaded trucks, 13 oil tankers, six buses, 10 wingers and four DI stranded between Hengbung and T Khullen till 5 pm on Monday as per a source from Senapati district police.
