Noney, February 28 2025: A one-day training programme for volunteer teachers under the Bharat Saksharta Karyakram, organised by the.

District Literacy Mission Authority, Tamenglong, took place on Friday at Makhuam Part-4 Upper Primary School in Noney district.

During the training programme, master trainer/ resource persons delivered lectures on various topics, including an introduction to the ULLAS scheme (understanding of lifelong learning for all in society), the role of volunteer teachers in identifying learners through surveys, motivation and creation of a learning environment, as well as the identification and enrolment in the age group of IS years.

Notably, the National Literacy Mission (NLM) was launched in 1988 with the objective of providing functional literacy to non-literate individuals aged 15 to 35 .

Under the National Education Policy 2020, the Government of India introduced a centrally sponsored scheme known as the New India Literacy Programme (NILP), commonly referred to as ULLAS'.

To be implemented for a five-year period till 2027, the scheme aims to empower adults aged 15 and above from all backgrounds who missed formal schooling, helping them integrate into society and contribute to the nation's growth.

On the other-hand, a 'One-Day Sensitisation Programme on Government Schemes, Initiatives, and Financial Literacy for Weavers/Artisans and Entrepreneurs' was held on Thursday at Common Facility Centre cum District Handloom and Textiles Office, Noney.

The programme was attended by Handloom & Textiles, Noney project manager Ks John, along with branch managers from SBI, PNB, and MRB, who served as resource persons.
