Bishnupur, January 29 2025: A one-day free health check-up camp for public transport drivers was conducted on Wednesday at the District Hospital (DH), Bishnupur as part of the 36th National Road Safety Month, 2025.The initiative, aimed at promoting the good health and well-being of public transport drivers, was organised jointly by the District Transport Office (DTO) and CMO, Bishnupur.

The health camp primarily focused on eye and ENT (ear, nose, and throat) screenings, which are crucial for the safety of drivers on the road.

Approximately 50 drivers from the district attended the health camp organised under the supervision of six doctors.

Speaking about the health camp, Bishnupur DTO Khumujam Jimmy Singh emphasised the importance of addressing health concerns for public transport drivers, particularly related to vision and hearing, as these are vital for road safety.

The DTO is committed to ensuring road safety and compliance with traffic regulations across the district.

Through various'initiatives and awareness campaigns, the office aims to reduce road accidents and promote safe driving practices, he added.

Apart from the health check-up camp, DTO, Bishnupur is also observing Road Safety Month, with conduct of various awareness activities, including routine checks for traffic rate violations and public awareness campaigns at key locations across the district including Nambol, Bishnupur, Ningthoukhong, Moirang,'and Kumbi.

Earlier, the DTO also organised a painting and quiz competition at the Panchayat Resource Centre, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur in collaboration with the ZEO Office, Bishnupur.

The competition was aimed at spreading awareness about road safety to the students.

The winners were felicitated by the Bishnupur deputy commissioner during the Republic Day celebrations.
