Governor, CM extends Yaoshang greetings

Governor Anusuiya Ui-key on Sunday extended greetings to the people of the Manipur on the joyful and auspicious occasion of Yaoshang, 2024 also known as Holi, the festival of colours, stating that it is heartening that all communities are joining in the celebration.
In her message, Governor Anusuiya stated that Yaoshang is celebrated at the onset of spring and it exemplifies the rejuvenation of the spirit of life.
She mentioned that from purely being a festival, the celebration has changed significantly, with sports ingrained with the spirit of Yaoshang, where the emphasis is more on participation irrespective of age, caste, sex and creed.
"This Yaoshang let us all resolve to pave way for a better and peaceful Manipur where every community respects each other and appreciates the space and functions of other communities.
Let us all celebrate the festival in its true spirit," she added.
Chief Minister N Biren also extended his greetings for the Yaoshang festival which is celebrated for five days from the full moon day of the lunar month of Lamta, signalling the onset of spring and ushering the birth and growth of new beginnings.
In his message, CM Biren stated that the festival provides a platform for social bonding for people of all communities and from all walks of life.
Sports and indigenous events conducted during the festival have a powerful impact on social bonding for people from different social, economic and religious backgrounds, he mentioned.
The CM maintained that the state is slowly returning towards normalcy after going through a tough phase which had challenged the peaceful coexistence of the people and disrupted all economic, developmental activities.
"Let the festival, ushering spring, take back the state along the path of peace and development and may the festival bring emotional integrity among the various communities," he wished.
