Imphal, August 21 2025:
Development & Protection, United Voluntary Organisation (DPUVO), Nambol urged the government for repairing the pothole-riddled road in between Malom and Bishnupur along the Tiddim Line.
In a release, DPUVO stated that NH-2, commonly referred to as Tiddim Line/Road, is dotted with numerous potholes due to government apathy.
While recounting alarming frequency of road accidents, including cases of serious injuries suffered and even casualties, it pointed out that the potholes along the road stretch between Imphal and Malom have been filled; though it remains unclear whether the work was carried out by government authorities or private individuals.
However, the road portion between Malom and Bishnupur remains in tatters, with no signs of repair work so far.
Although several clubs and civil society organisations (CSOs) attempted to mend the potholes, such an efforts would only be on temporary basis as use of bitumen and road roller would only ensure smooth and durable surface, it maintained.
If the government does not take swift action to repair the potholes between Malom and Bishnupur by August 30, the organisation in collaboration with the public will fill these potholes using stones and cement to save lives,
the release added.
