PANMYL 'founder' A Birendra no more

Pan Manipuri Youth League (PANMYL) founder member Aheibam Birendra Singh alias Biren Lamba passed away on May 10, after prolonged illness.
He was 77 years old.
In separate releases, NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust and Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup (MACHA LEIMA) condoled the untimely demise of Aheibam Birendra and expressed solidarity with suffering of the bereaved family.
Born at Chingamakha Heirangoithong Aheibam Leikai before shifting residency to Sagolband Tera Lukrakpam Leikai, Birendra played a key role in forming PANMYL in 1968 at Guwahati University, the bodies recalled and remembered his activities for a unified Manipuri.
Birendra taught English literature at Oriental College, Imphal, served as director of Art and Culture, Manipur and was chairman of Manipur Film Development Corporation.
He retired as chairman of North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur.
Meanwhile, the Trust prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
