Bishnupur, June 06 2024:
Reacting against non-payment of salaries to casual staff, daily wagers and muster roll employees of Moirang Municipal Council for the last 9 months, agitated employees on Thursday locked office of the Council and staged a sit-in protest along with announcing cease work strike.
An agitator, who took part in the protest told reporters that they are experiencing hardship due to the failure of the authority to release the pending salaries.
The council's staff and daily wage workers are diligently performing tasks such as garbage collection and cleaning on a daily basis.
Furthermore, they play a significant role in maintaining cleanliness at all tourist spots in Moirang.
However, it is unfortunate that their wages and salaries have not been paid for the past nine months, the protester maintained and suggested that authority concerned settle the issue failing which they will extend cease-Work agitation.
