Training programme on beekeeping begins

The All India Co-Ordinated Research Project on Honeybees and Pollinator, College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal organised a 7-day training programme on "Promoting Scientific Beekeeping for Livelihood Security" under the North East Hills Programme.
The training programme was conducted under the aegis of the AICRP, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi at the conference hall of College of Agriculture.
Professor Indira Sarangthem, Dean, CAU Imphal graced the inaugural event as the chief guest.
Professor N Brajendra Singh, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, CAU, Imphal; Dr Kh Ibohal, Co-Principal, AICRP, COA, CAU Imphal and Professor U Chaoba Singh, Department of Horticulture attended the event as the functional president and guests of honour respectively.
Beehive boxes were distributed on the occasion and approximately 30 apiarists from nine districts, Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Noney, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Kamjong and Senapati attended the event.
Dr Nilima Karam, Principal Investigator, CoA, CAU, Imphal and Bee Professional Arambam Suchitra Devi spoke on many related topics as resource persons.
