Tributes paid to NPP founder PA Sangma

The 77th birth anniversary of National People's Party (NPP) founder (later) PA Sangma was observed by party's state unit at its Naoremthong office on Sunday.
NPP national vice-president Y Joykumar, party MLAs Th Shanti, I Nalini and Janghemlung Panmei, ex-minister Mangi, ex-MLA S Subashchandra, NPYF president Laitonjam Jayananda, NPP general secretary Rusel Heisnam and many other party leaders paid floral tribute to the portrait of PA Sangma.
Regarding the observance, Y Joykumar said NPP is a political party first floated from Manipur but PA Sangma is known as founder of the party after he adopted NPP and subsequently granted recognition as a national political party.
He said that the NPP was first founded by a politician from Sagolband assembly constituency fondly referred to as Tera Laimu andthe party even had many MLAs with some even holding ministerial posts.
V Hangkhanlian and Thangminlen Kipgen were also elected on party's ticket in the past.
At the time when the party was on the verge extinction, PA Sangma adopted the party and NPP is now a national political party, he elaborated.
According to Joykumar, there are 5/6 MLAs of NPP in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and the party is still a force to reckon with in the North East.
Replying to a query raised by media persons, he expressed that as Kukis are united and working cohesively amid the communal violence getting protracted their unity is one of the factors for the conflict figuring in national and international platforms.
Similarly, Meeteis settling outside need to strive for negating false narratives associated with the conflict as well as shoulder responsibility to resolve the crisis, stressed the NPP national vice president.
