SFs net five cadres of KCP with arms

Imphal, July 14 2024:
A combined team of security forces arrested five cadres of the armed KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) along with arms and ammunition during a search operation conducted at Kakching Khunou Thingnam Leikai on Sunday.
The arrested KCP cadres have been identified as Soibam Lanchanba Meitei (25), son of S Darendrajit Singh of Ningombam Awang Leikai; Soibam Manoj Singh (27), son of S Narakeshwor Singh of Ningombam Awang Leikai; Meisnam Dipak Meitei (39), son of H Tomba Singh of Thanga Meisnam Leikai but presently staying at Phubala Half Dollar; Nameirakpam Nelson Singh (20), son of N Dara Singh of Haraorou Sabal Leikai; and Nongthombam Leishemba (23), son of N Hemanta Singh of Kangla Sangomsang Awang Leikai.
Moreover, one 7.65 mm pistol along with magazine and five rounds, one pistol marked Colt super 0.38 Autos along with magazine and five rounds, three camouflage dresses and a numberless Bolero vehicle were recovered from their possession.
According to police, 33 AR tipped off about presence of members of KCP (Nongdrek-homba) planning abduction for ransom, a combined team led by Kakching district police commando OC and Waikhong PS OC arrested the five cadres from Kakching Khunou Thingnam Ningthou Leikai.
The arrested people along with the seized items have been handed over to Waikhong police station for necessary legal actions.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered several arms and ammunition during search operations conducted in different areas on Saturday.
According to Manipur police control room, one SMG Carbine along with one Magazine, one single barrel, one wireless set, two 81 mm mortar shells, five 36 HE hand grenades, two Chinese hand grenades, one dye maker grenade, one stun shell, two tear smoke shells, four detonators and five 9mm live rounds were recovered from Waithou hill area, Thoubal district.
One AK 56 rifle with magazine, one SLR with magazine, one local made SLR with magazine, one .38 pistol and magazine, four 9mm pistols with magazines, one .32 pistol with magazine, two HE 36 hand grenades, 20 live rounds, 54 .62mm empty cases, one rice sack/bag, and a black colour polythene were recovered from eastern side of Heingang Ching.
Moreover, one pumpi was recovered during search operations at Kaprang, Kipmunnuam, Saihenjang and adjoining areas in Churachandpur district.
Meanwhile, in follow up action of shooting an individual person by unknown miscreants along the Lamphel Sanakeithel road on July 12, Manipur police conducted special operation at Khoyathong Polem Leikai and Nagamapal areas and recovered one Excalibur rifle, 7.62 mm AR (GHAATAK), one MA-3 Rifle with magazine and 14 live rounds, and two four-wheelers and one two-wheeler vehicle.
On the other hand, Manipur police arrested two individuals namely Yambem Gulshan (27) and Philem Jenan Singh (32) from Sangaiprou for involvement in theft of a vehicle without registration number on Saturday.
One .45 pistol with 19 rounds and two magazines and one 9 mm pistol with 13 live and a magazine were recovered from them, it added.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal West district police and CRPF conducted search operation at Lairenkabi Maning Leikai on Sunday from 6.35 am to 7.45 am, searched 50 houses and verified 120 people.
However, no one was arrested in the operation.
