Imphal, March 08 2025:
As part of the government's efforts to restore peace, the Manipur State Transport (MST) resumed bus services on Saturday for the Imphal-Senapati and Imphal-Churachandpur routes under heavy security escort.
The buses were flagged off from the Imphal International Airport at 9:15 am.
However, only two passengers boarded the Senapati-bound bus, while no one travelled on the Churachandpur-bound bus despite the security presence.
The two passengers, former RIMS MS Dr Y Mohen, and his son-in-law Langam, were shifted to a Casspir vehicle for safety.
As the bus entered Kangpokpi, stones were pelted by Kuki protestors.
Unable to reach Senapati, the passengers were stationed at a BSF camp in New Keithelmanbi before being safely brought back to Imphal by BSF personnel late Saturday evening.
Meanwhile, security forces also escorted oil tankers and LPG trucks along with the Churachandpur-bound MST bus.
