Senapati, June 06 2024:
Senapati District Truck Owners' Association (SDTOA) has appealed to authorities concerned to repair the damaged bridge and the stretch of road along the NH-2 for free passage of goods-carrying vehicles.
In a press release issued by its secretary K Daikho on Wednesday, SDTOA stated that the recent heavy rainfall in Manipur triggered landslide along the NH-37 (Imphal-Jiri road), and the restriction imposed on the movement of heavy motor vehicles exceeding 12 tonnes on the NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) due to the bridge damage has led to a shortage of essential commodities in the state.
The SDTOA, along with Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union, then requested that NHIDCL and its contractors to repair the damaged bridge at Ch KM 200+950 along the Kohima-Mao road, NH-2, near BPCLE service station in Jakhama at the earliest to ensure free movement of goods-carrying trucks in public interest.
