SP leads drive to penalise traffic violators

Thoubal, January 29 2025:
Thoubal SP Rakesh Balwal on Wednesday led a drive for issuing e-challan and extracting fine from violators of traffic rules at DC Thoubal Complex point of NH 102 .
During the drive organised by Traffic Control Police, Thoubal, two-wheeler drivers not wearing helmets were detained and made to pay fine through the e-challan system.
Speaking to media persons in connection with the drive, SP Rakesh Balwal and Thoubal additional SP (L&O) N Suraj Singh explained that payment of the penalty amount is made through the online mode after issuance of e-challan so as to ensure transparency and convenience in paying traffic fines.

The officers also advised the public to pay the fines within the time allotted failing which one of liable for summoning by the court and paying heftier amount.
They also clarified that the drive to enforce traffic rules is aimed at reducing road accidents.
On the other hand, National Informatics Centre (NIC), Imphal programmer Athokpam Yaikhomba informed that the past practice of traffic violators made to cough up fine in cash had risk of the records going missing, whereas under the e-challan system there is no room for error.
Meanwhile, NIC, Thoubal conducted a training programme on e-challan for traffic personnel at NIC VC Room on Wednesday.
