Workshop on IP, patent filing conducted

A one-day workshop on, "Intellectual Property (IP) Awareness and Sensitisation on Patent Filing Process" was held at the conference hall of TS Paul Manipur Women's College on Saturday.
The event, hosted by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Research Committee of the College with participation of legal experts, faculties, research scholars and students, was aimed at creating awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) frameworks and their implications across various sectors.
Shukadev Khuraijam, patent lawyer and partner, Remfry and Sagar (IP Law firm); Kosygin Leishangthem, nodal officer IPR Cell, Manipur Technical University; and Dr Sujata Wangkheirakpam, lecturer, Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology, shared their insights on diverse aspects of IPR.
The workshop commenced with an overview of the various forms of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Speakers also highlighted the role of IP education and training programmes in empowering businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators to recognise, protect, and leverage their intellectual property assets effectively.
Attendees were give a detailed overview of patent filing process, conduct of prior art searches and drafting patent applications.
