Imphal, March 10 2025:
While expressing deep concern over the ethnic conflict which, it noted, has left a lasting scar on the people, particularly the Hindu and Meetei communities, Arambai Tenggol has welcomed the Central government's efforts toward restoring peace and stability, calling upon every responsible citizen to support the initiative.
In a statement issued by AT-GHQ PRO Robin Mangang, the organisation praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah's move to restore religious places that were damaged or vandalised during the May 2023 conflict.
Calling it a significant step toward harmony and cultural preservation, the AT urged the state administration to take immediate measures to reconstruct Hindu temples and Meetei religious sites that were "destroyed and damaged by the Kuki narco-terrorists".
It emphasised that as these sacred sites hold immense religious and cultural values, their restoration will foster peace and unity among all communities.
The statement also urged "Kuki narco-terrorists and illegal immigrants" to shun violence and respect the Indian Constitution, stating that "Kuki narco-terrorists and illegal immigrants" must understand that they are "nothing to us" and must respect the Indian Constitution while paving the way for peace and development in the state.
It continued that the Central government has taken steps to resolve the crisis and called upon all stakeholders to adhere to its directives.
"The state's unity and integrity are of utmost importance, and any actions that jeopardise it will not be tolerated," it warned, asserting that Arambai Tenggol "will not be a silent spectator if the crisis in Manipur continues".
The organisation further stated that it would take necessary actions to protect Manipur's land and people, urging those who seek to "disintegrate Manipur" to halt any such attempts.
Arambai Tenggol reiterated its stand that every citizen of India has a responsibility to uphold the Constitution.
Calling for collective efforts in supporting the Centre's initiative, it urged the people of Manipur to unite in ensuring peace and a brighter future for the state.
"Let us all come together and support the Central government's efforts to bring normalcy and development in Manipur," the statement pleaded, stressing the need to fight against "narco-terrorists and illegal immigrants" for the greater good of the state and the nation.
Meanwhile, Ima Kondong Lairembi Thougal Lup, Moreh has expressed appreciation to Arambai Tenggol for bringing up the matter of reconstructing religious places destroyed or burned in the conflict during their meeting with the Governor last month.
The Lup, in a statement, said that the sacred temple of Kondong Lairembi was burnt by "Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists in front of Assam Rifles on May 3 and 5, 2023" .
It further alleged that the vandals also looted properties of the temple, and urged the government to provide proper compensation apart from rebuilding the temple.
Acknowledging the initiatives taken up by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to reconstruct religious sites and open the highways, the Lup expressed confidence that the initiative would be fruitful.
It also drew attention of the government towards the urgent need to initiate necessary measures for early and safe resettlement of the displaced people to their homes.
