Senapati police seize 309 gm brown sugar

In the continued effort of combating illegal drug activities as part of "War on Drugs 2.0", Senapati district police seized 309 grams of brown sugar hidden inside soap cases on Thursday.
During a routine inspection near Upper Kathikh'o Karong along NH-2, approximately 8 kilometers north of Senapati police station, a police team led by SI H Talu Marcus and ASI PL Khole made the seizure of the 25 soap cases containing brown sugar on Thursday at around 5:30 am.
These soap cases were found concealed within a Maruti Suzuki Alto Car (white in colour) bearing registration number NL 01CA-7144, which was traveling from Senapati towards Mao Gate.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, the brown sugar was discovered hidden inside an iron box container.
The authorities promptly informed DC Senapati, who promptly deputed SDM Senapati S Lunguiba Thangal to oversee the necessary procedures.
In the presence of the executive magistrate, the vehicle's driver, identified as Nolu Pfbtokho Khrasi son of Nolu, a 27-year-old resident of Makhan Khullen village, PO- Maram, PS-Mao, Senapati district, revealed and handed over 25 soap cases suspected to contain brown sugar.
These soap cases were weighed using a weighing machine, and found to be 309 grams, excluding the weight of the soap cases themselves.
The seized items included 25 soap cases containing 309 grams of brown sugar, one white Maruti Suzuki Alto Car, one iron box container approximately sized at 1x1.5x0.5 feet, one Redmi Note 11 mobile phone, and one Aadhar card issued in the name of Nolu Pfotokho Khrasi.
The apprehended individual, along with the seized items, was handed over to the custody of Senapati police station for further necessary legal action.
An FIR has been registered at the PS under FIR No.25(9)2023 SPT-PS, invoking sections 21(b) and 60(3) of the NDPS Act 1985 .
