Oriental College hosts debate competition

A debate competition on the subject "Social media is doing more harm than good for students" was held today at the conference hall of Oriental College.
Organised by the Oriental College Students' Union, seven individuals participated in the debate, three in support of the topic and four in opposition.
Dr S Ranjit Singh, Principal, Oriental College; Dr S Nabadwip Singh, Controller of Examination and M Lokendro Singh, vice president, Oriental College Teacher's Association graced the event as the presidium members.
As a part of the event, prizes were distributed for the 60th Annual Sports Meet of the college.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr S Ranjit Singh said that debates enhance the inborn talents present in a student.
He urged the student community to participate in such activities to increase their knowledge and skills.
Usham Borish, BA 2nd semester, Manipuri Department, from the supporter group bagged the first position; Lonika Heisnam, BA 2nd semester, English Department (opposer) secured the 2nd and Thumritha Anal, 6th Semester, Botany Department (opposer) snatched the 3rd position.
Assistant Professor Dr Rajkumar, graced the occasion as the speaker of the debate competition.
