Ministry official reviews DDU-GKY, RSETI projects

Imphal, May 03 2025:
Ministry of Rural, Development, mission manager (skills) Tenzing Choesang on Friday wrapped up her three-day visit to the state to assess the progress of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and the functioning of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSE-TIs) under the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission.
According to a press release issued by the MSRLM, the visit from April 30 involved a comprehensive review of both ongoing and closing projects under DDU-GKY 1.0, with special focus on the quality of training imparted by various Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) .
During the visit, Choesang also engaged with state officials and stakeholders to understand implementation challenges and operational gaps in the skill development training programs.
Her visit began with a review of the Gyanjyoti Foundation, a PIA located at Wangkhei Ayangpalli Road in Imphal East.
Interacting with the trainees and staff, Choesang appreciated grassroots efforts in skilling rural youth and distributed job offer letters to candidates placed in star hotels across India.
She was accompanied by MSRLM, state skill mission's chief operating officer (skills) Khundrakpam Bobby, along with officials including program manager of finance & proposal evaluation, district coordinator (skills), and all block coordinators of Imphal East.
Choesang also visited RSETI centres in Imphal West and Kakching, where she held discussions with directors on training quality, institutional support, and placement outcomes.
Officials from the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU), district coordinators, and block coordinators from Imphal West, Kakching, Chandel, and Tengnoupal districts joined the visits.
She also met with commissioner (RD & PR) Sumant Singh and state mission director N Bandana Devi to discuss policy issues.
Her itinerary included visits to IRDEO at Wangbal Thoubal and SSV DDU-GKY Centre at Thoubal Athokpam, where she interacted with trainees and staff.
On May 2, Choesang held a concluding meeting with the SMMU team in Imphal, focusing on performance monitoring, placement tracking, and ' improving training outreach and quality.
