Imphal, September 30 2024:
Interfaith Forum Manipur (IFM) has appealed to parties involved in the on-going Manipur conflict to cease targeted armed attacks, killings, and kidnapping of innocent people based on identities and regions as such violence is mutually lowering human dignity and creating unbearable problems for the future generations.
In a release, IFM said that the unabated violence for the last 16 months, and intimidation against peacemakers and human rights defenders of both parties in conflict pose serious threat to fundamental rights of the present and future children.
Stating that time has come to mitigate the sufferings of thousands of innocent victims, who continue to languish in hundreds of relief camps, and save lives on everyday basis, the Forum also expressed serious concern over repeated threats to peacemakers and human right's defenders within and across the communities.
It noted that all leaderships fighting for the rights across the divide do so for the love of their own community and hoped that such responsible leaderships would also be interested to mutually seek peace and security with their immediate neighbourhood.
"We believe that true religious leaders and responsible parents across the divide would certainly like to leave behind their children to live peacefully in the hands of good neighbours in future," the Forum added.
