Bengali bodies condemn hate post

Imphal, October 09 2024: All Jiribam Muslim Welfare Society, All Jiribam Namasudra Parishod (Lat-ingkhal), All Manipur Bengali Students' Union (Jiribam) and Nari Jagaran Joutha Monch, vehemently condemned alleged hate posts and false accusations that Bengali Hindu and Muslim communities are supporting the Kukis in the ongoing conflict between Kuki and Meetei communities in the state.

In a joint statement, the Bengali Hindu and Muslim organisations dismissed as false and sinister comments posted on various social media platforms that the Bengali community is backing the Kuki community in the ongoing conflict.

While contending that a thorough investigation conducted could not establish any evidence about Bengali organisations raising or collecting funds for the Kukis, the joint statement also asserted that the Bengali community never engaged in any discussions on the Kuki-Meetei communal conflict.

Further calling hate speeches circulated on social media as misleading and part of the sinister ploy to tarnish image of the Bengali community, the Bengali organisations urged all concerned not to vilify the Bengali community.

The statement also.cau-tioned that such sinister campaigns could disrupt existing cordiality between the Bengali and Meetei communities.

The organisations also declared their stand to lodge complaint to the district administration concerned so as to initiate legal action against the hate mongers.
