Doctors, nurses urged to serve diligently

Thoubal, March 08 2025:
The lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of the 4th batch (2024-25) students of GNM Training School, Thoubal and 9th batch (2024-25) of GNM School of Nursing, Churachandpur, was held at Wangbal community hall, Thoubal district on Friday.
The function was attended by Health Services director Dr Chambo Gonmei and Thoubal CMO Dr Y Nokul as chief guest and president respectively, while Thoubal District Hospital medical superintendent Dr W Ruhin-kumar, Manipur Nursing Council registrar A Jamuna Devi and GNM Training School, Thoubal principal N Memchoubi Devi were present as guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, Dr Chambo urged the newly graduated nurses to discharge their duties with efficiency and dedication.
He also noted that some doctors and nurses tend to serve only those who could afford to pay service charge, thereby compromising professional ethics, something that should be avoided.
He observed that while money is a necessity of life, it should never overshadow one's commitment to work.
As healthcare professionals, nurses must prioritise their duties and perform to the best of their ability, he stressed.
Further pointing out that to cater to the need of growing population number of healthcare institutions has increased significantly, consequently leading to demand for nurses, Dr Chambo called upon the nurses to not only fulfil essential duties but also contribute their mite in the development of healthcare facilities and sector.
As a part of the programme meritorious nurses were felicitated.
