UG cadres held, arms, ammos recovered

Imphal, April 06 2025:
In a series of counter-insurgency operations on Saturday, police and security forces arrested several active cadres of underground organisations and recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and other equipment from different districts.
According to a statement of the police control room, an active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Hemam Priyokumar Meitei alias Irikkhom-ba (32) of Moirang Panshang Leikai, currently residing near Moirang College Gate, was arrested from Potshangbam-Toupoki-Ningthoukhong area under Bishnupur police station.
A mobile handset was recovered from his possession.
Police said the accused was directly involved in extortion activities in Bishnupur and Nambol areas.

On the same day, a juvenile member of KCP (MC Progressive) was apprehended from Nambol Bazar under Nambol PS .
One motorcycle, a mobile handset, and a SIM card were seized from him.
In another operation, security forces arrested Taorem Ranjit Singh alias Pandamba (49), an active cadre of KCP (PWG), from Moirang Ok-shongbung Shribon IV Road under Moirang PS.
He hails from Luwangsangbam Matai Awang Leikai, Imphal East, but currently resides at Okshongbung Leikai.
Meanwhile, in Kakching district, an active member of UPPK, identified as Elangbam Robichandra Singh alias Kabi (46), was arrested during a search operation in Hiyanglam Tera Pishak and Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai areas under Hiyanglam PS.
Police also recovered arms and ammunition from different locations.
From Kam-ranga area under Jiribam PS, three DBBL guns, two SBBL guns, five 12-bore rounds, four camouflage bulletproof jackets without plates, and three Baofeng and TYT handsets with chargers were recovered.
From Keirao Wangkhem village under Andro PS in Imphal East, security forces recovered 12 firearms, including pistols, rifles, and guns; two hand grenades; 13 rounds of assorted live ammunition; eight items of riot control munitions such as tear smoke shells and stun shells; one radio wireless set; and four communication devices, the statement added.
