The Maram Union Kohima has strongly condemned the "barbaric and inhuman attack" on the Maram Naga, Kazanga Village, on April 3 in Kangpokpi district by suspected Valpabung Villagers.
"The unprovoked violence inflicted on the innocent lives and property in this peaceful village is not only reprehensible but a clear violation of human rights and the principles of coexistence and justice," said the Union in a statement.

We also urge the responsible authorities to take up all necessary measures immediately to prevent further violence and ensure that peace, reconciliation, harmony exist among all communities.
We stand in solidarity with the Maram Naga People of Kazanga Village, during this disturbing time, and demand assurance that senseless act of violence in this nature does not repeat in the future," it said.
The Maram Union Kohima stands committed to working towards a peaceful and just society, where all people, regardless of their ethnic or community affiliation, can live in peace, harmony and dignity, it added.
