Imphal, June 28 2025:
A team of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO), Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), and Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) would be holding a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in New Delhi on Monday over the current situation in the state.
In this regard, a 19-member delegation comprising representatives from the three CSOs will be leaving for Delhi on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference held at Manipur Press Club on Saturday evening, COCOMI convenor Khuraijam Athouba stated that while conflict resolution processes are being initiated, no tangible signs of progress are visible at the ground level.
At this juncture, collective efforts are crucial, he said.
Accordingly, a joint meeting of AMUCO, COCOMI, and FOCS, along with their advisors, was held and several resolutions were adopted, including the joint decision to meet MHA officials on June 30 in New Delhi.
"We will apprise them of the concerns and frustrations of the people," he added.
Athouba further said that seven representatives each from AMUCO and COCOMI and five from FOCS will take part in the meeting.
AMUCO senior member Sougrakpam Bhubon said that although the organisations may appear to work differently, they share the same objective of protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur and upholding the sentiments of its people.
He expressed hope that all stakeholders will have faith in the peace process, adding that both short-term and long-term measures would be discussed.
He also informed that issues such as restrictions on farming activities near the foothills, attacks on farmers, and lack of adequate security will be raised during the meeting.
Other topics to be taken up include the free movement of vehicles along the highways and resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
FOGS president BM Yaima Shah noted that this will be the third round of talks with MHA as part of the ongoing peace process.
While immediate outcomes may be difficult to achieve, he appealed for public support in the collective effort toward peace.
