Meritorious students felicitated

Imphal/Thoubal, July 14 2024: The first felicitation programme of meritorious students of Class X & XII under Imphal Municipal Corporation ward number 6 was organised on Sunday at Uripok Ahanthem Leikai community hall.

The function was attended by Lt Col (Retd) Soram Tikendrajit, United Club president L Bimol Kishwor, and chairman Khwairakpam Tarunkumar as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

During the function, students who secured high marks in Class X and XII examinations were felicitated with presented of cash prizes and certificates.

Meanwhile, students who topped the Angels Coaching Centre HSLCE and Mock Test 2023-24 were honoured in a function held at Uripok Polem Leikai on Sunday with Lt Gen (Retd) L Nishikanta, social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram and national awardee Dr Haobijam Budhichandra as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

On the other hand, District Library cum Youth Centre (DLCYC) organised its 16th award distribution function at the Athokpam office of the Centre in Thoubal district on Sunday.

As part of the function, a library of the Youth Centre was also inaugurated.

The function was attended by Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar as chief guest, DLCYC president Dr L Romendro as president and former Khangabok MLA Okram Landhoni Devi as guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Surjakumar called upon the government not to play with the future of the students, while questioning how the government plans to resolve the prevailing crisis in the state when it cannot even settle the DMU row.

He continued that the enrolment rate has fallen by 50 per cent owing to the issues plaguing the varsity.

During the function, the Leimapokpam Muhindro Award was presented to the highest scorer in Class X examination conducted by BSEM and to the highest scorer in Biology and Chemistry subjects in Class XII examination conducted by CoHSEM; Changamayum Harimohon Memorial Award to the overall topper of Class XII (science) examination; Takhellambam Nageshwor & Nungshi Devi Award to toppers of Class X examination; Athokpam Bira & Tombimacha Devi Memorial Award to topper of Class X examination conducted by CBSE; Leimapokpam Khomdomcha Memorial Award to senior citizens; Mayengbam Kaminibabu Memorial Award to MBBS-selected students; and Thongam Babudhon Memorial Award to sports players who won medals at state, national and international competitions.

In all, 32 class X students (BSEM & CBSE) and class XII students (CoHSEM), three senior students, one female PhD degree holder, one female student of MUC and sportspersons were presented With honorary shawls, citations, mementos and cash prizes.
