The statement issued by its publicity committee further said that many women have been raped and killed under colonial administration while the numbers of half-widow whose husbands did not return home in Manipur has risen from the early 1980s.Such incidents are also occurring in the ongoing proxy war since May 3, 2023 rendering more women of Manipur (Kangleipak) to half-widow.
While colonial rulers orchestrated fraternal conflicts, people particularly women who confront resultant issues are being tortured and this is why there is huge difference between observance of International Women's Day in Manipur and in Europe-America where the day is being celebrated as a festival, the CorCom said, adding that women movement in Manipur (Kangleipak) is a part of fighting colonialism.
Even though freedom and equality are part and parcel of democracy, Indian administration is missing both, the CorCom said and termed India as a country with 'colonialism' as soul and 'fascism' as body.
In fact, the global 'Accelerate Action' reflects the severe impact given to the women of Manipur (Kangleipak) by the ongoing proxy war orchestrated by India.
As women are in the forefront of fighting the ongoing proxy war by leading people's movement and keeping vigil on roads and fringe areas even in the night, economy of local markets called Keithels which serve as backbone of economy of the land are being shattered.
The prolonged conflict and unrest situation not only hindered the pace of development but also rendered the economy of the land dependent.
Even though the prolonged conflict left more than 10,000 hectares of paddy fields barren and openly blocked highways, the Government of India remains as silent spectator.
The prevailing situation gives huge impact to the people particularly poorer section of the society, the CorCom said and vowed to fight at its level best against oppression and ensuring the rights of the women of Manipur (Kangleipak) and bring them at par with the global women.
The CorCom then appealed women of Manipur (Kangleipak) to continue the struggle for ensuring rights and freedom.
