Tamenglong holds 'Battle of Brains' debate

The 2nd edition of the 'Battle of Brains', a debating championship for schools in Tamenglong district was held on Monday at the Centennial hall of Town Baptist Church.
Organised by Tamenglong district administration under the aegis of Tamenglong Schools Debating Championship Committee, the event had healthy turnout of students, educators and dignitaries to celebrate the art of debate.
Among others, the inaugural session was attended by Tamenglong DC Dr L Angshim Dangshawa, SP Lanmiyo Luikham, ADC CEO Kachamthai F Gangmei, SDO (Tamenglong) D Meidinbui, SDO (Tousem) Paul Nangsha, 5th Bn Manipur Rifles deputy commandant Letlen Sekho, ZEO N Abonpou Christopher, Town Churches Union president Rev Guigongdai Eamei, former ADC member Ramning Pame, and Rongmei Naga Council Manipur president Savio Gangmei.
The theme for this year's championship, articulated by ADM Chunlenmang Kipgen, was 'The future prospect of Tamenglong depends mainly on its leaders, not the people' .
In his opening remarks, ADM Chunlenmang emphasised the importance of engaging more students in future debates, highlighting that public speaking is a vital skill for young leaders.
The championship featured three intense sessions with 18 students representing schools from Tamei, Tousem, and Tamenglong sub-divisions.
The panel of judges included Tamenglong College principal Dr Kinthuijinang Maremmei, history department head Dr Maliangjjnliu Panmei, and Gaichangsui Gangmei, a Bible Translator from RBCC (BSI).
Namding Kamei of Trinity Public School, who spoke in favour of the motion, was declared the winner as oppose of the motion Ngam-jengluibou Pamai of Langmei Higher Secondary School, Tamei secured the second position and Ramkhuanlung Kamei of Eklavya Model Residential School, Tamenglong claimed the third place.
Ramkhuanlung debated in favour of the motion.
