3 workers kidnapped by militants, road work ceased

The Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded road construction work in Kasom Khullen in Ukhrul district has been ceased after three workers of ABCI Infrastructures Private Limited, which is the implementing agency, were allegedly kidnapped by suspected armed militants of Kuki National Front (KNF) .
According to Vikan Thongam, the Senior Project Engineer of the construction company, the three workers have been kidnapped at gun-point by five suspected armed cadres of KNF from a worksite near Saram Patong village at around 5 pm on January 24.The three kidnapped workers are excavator driver Raju Robidas (28) s/o Ram Prasad of Jirighat, Assam; excavator operator Vinodkumar (25) s/o Ramchandra of Madhupur village under Muzafarnagar, Bihar and helper Shiva Narayan Paswan (20) s/o Shiva Sagar Paswan of Bihar.
After holding them captive, the three workers have been taken towards the hill ranges located in between Kasom and Tangkhul Khullen, Vikan Thongam informed, while appealing to the Government for ensuring the security of the workers.
