Imphal, January 24 2015 :
Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) has demanded the Government to appoint the Director of Agriculture Department according to the seniority list.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, ICHAM general secretary Ngachonmi Ramshang said that Loius Ngasainao is currently the most senior officer, who is eligible to be promoted to the post of Director, in the Department.
However, the Agriculture Minister is trying to appoint one of his close aides as the Director instead of handing over the matter to Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), Ngachonmi Ramshang alleged.
This officer is actually in the bottom of the seniority list, he added.
Ngachonmi alleged that other senior officers were ignored citing pending vigilance enquiry against these officers.
However, these officers except the close aide of the Minister have already been discharged from the cases taken up by the Vigilance Department, he added.
As such, promoting such an officer as the Director is the violation of service rules/norms of the Government, he added.
ICHAM president N Rajendro (Boy) and publicity secretary Ambition were also present at the press conference.
