Imphal, January 24 2015 :
Reiterating its demand for regularisation of all contract lecturers and adhoc teachers from the current academic session, the Tombing led All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has warned of launching stir unless regularisation of the contract and adhoc teachers is not effected by Jan 31 .
Addressing a press meet at its office located at Nagaram today, education secretary of ATSUM (T) Lovejoy Shimray said that ATSUM has been placing the demand for regularisation of contract and adhoc teachers to ease the problems of teacher shortage in educational intitutions in the hill areas.
ATSUM has had three rounds of talks with the Govt on various issues.
During the latest round of such talks held on Nov 22 last year, the Govt had assured to effect regularisation of all contract and adhoc teachers as Christmas gift.
However, the assurance has not been translated into action till date, Lovejoy pointed out.
The Education Dept has completed the process for regularisation of 333 adhoc teachers and 705 contract lecturers of higher secondary schools, he said.
He further warned of launching various forms of agitation if the Govt fails to regularise the contract and adhoc teachers within Jan 31 .
The ATSUM leader further said that recruitment through casual, adhoc and contractual and extension of service has invited confusions and disorders.
He said that a memorandum in this regard would be submitted by ATSUM to the PM and Union HRD Minister.
