One killed, another injured in firing

Imphal, March 12 2023:
A man was killed and another injured when a guard commander on sentry duty at 2nd Manipur Rifles gate, Kabow Leikai, opened fire while they were coming to buy liquor from 2nd MR canteen on March 9 .
The deceased has been identified as Lukram Monsieur (37) s/o L Akendrajit of Uripok Khumanthem Leikai and the injured, presently undergoing treatment at Shija hospital, as Thiyam Roshan Singh (31) of Uripok Polem Leikai.
Roshan is a rifleman of 5th MR currently attached to Imphal East commando.
The guard commander involved in the act has been identified as Ningthoujam Priyokumar (54) s/o late N Tomchou of Lilong Chajing Awang Leikai.
He has been arrested by the police and produced before the Imphal West Duty Magistrate on March 10 and further remanded in police custody for 8 days.
Police have also seized the .32 license gun used in the incident.
According to police report, the incident occurred around 9pm when Monsieur and Roshan Singh along with three others came in a car to buy liquor.
When Ningthoujam Priyokumar, who was on sentry duty at the 2nd MR gate prohibited their entry on the ground that the time for buying liquor was over, a heated argument ensued during which Priyokumar took out his license gun and fired three shots towards the civilians killing, Monsieur on the spot and left Roshan injured.
Meanwhile, JAC formed in connection with the firing incident met the chief minister during which the CM Biren assured of ordering enquiry into the incident, extending necessary help to the family of the deceased and initiating appropriate action against the involved person.
