Imphal, April 10 2025: Staff members of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Child Welfare Committee, Imphal West, staged a sit-in protest on Thursday condemning the gun firing incident targeting a children's home at Sagolband Meino Leirak in the early hours of Wednesday.

During the protest held in front of the Home, Destitute Children Home, Tera Keithel superintendent Bidyananda Laishram said that unidentified assailants fired seven rounds at the facility set for children in distress, marking what he described as the first such violent attack against a children's home in the state.

Calling the act highly condemnable, he urged authorities to investigate the incident.

"Any grievances could be sorted out through proper dialogue," he said, adding that the shooting left the children and staff in a state of panic.
