Imphal, April 30 2025:
Just as the Government of India has issued a 'Leave India' notice to Pakistani nationals following the Pahalgam terror attack and set a deadline, the Centre should take a similar stance against the Myanmar-based Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists involved in cross-border terrorism in Manipur and flush out illegal immigrants from the state, according to MIYC.
In a statement made available to the media, MIYC coordinator MC Meetei stated that just as the government of India is taking steps to identify Pakistani nationals after the Pahalgam attack, similar legal action should also be initiated against foreign nationals from Myanmar who are waging war against the indigenous people of Manipur.
The statement questioned the central government's silence and inaction as Myanmar-based Chin-Kuki terrorists continue to carry out cross-border terrorism in Manipur.
The MIYC also accused the Government of India of treating Manipur as a colonial state and its people as second class citizens.
The coordinator pointed out that although the Foreigners Act of 1948 prohibits the entry of foreign nationals, large number of illegal immigrants from Myanmar, Bangladesh and Nepal continue to settle in the state.
Among them, the Chin-Kuki community is expanding not only in the hill areas but also into the valley regions, significantly impacting the socio-economic and political fabric of the state.
Despite widespread demand from the people of Manipur for implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in light of this growing issue, the central government has turned a deaf ear, the statement rued.
MC Meetei further stated that the Chin-Kuki terrorists are receiving support from various foreign nations and are actively waging war against the indigenous people of Manipur with the aim of creating a separate country called "Zalengam".
In what it termed as shocking, MIYC mentioned that the government of India is entering into a Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with these foreign terrorists, despite their involvement in the killing of more than 200 people, the disappearance of over 36 individuals, the destruction and burning of thousands of homes, and the displacement of more than 60,000 people.
Highlighting the sharp increase in the number of Chin-Kuki villages in Manipur over the past 50 years, MIYC stated that a total of 1,556 new villages have been established in the state, with Churachandpur alone accounting for 560 of them.
According to the recently released electoral roll, Churachandpur has recorded 1,42,732 voters, the highest number in the state, followed by Kangpokpi with 1,03,563 voters, it noted.
Similarly, the number of voters and villages in Pherzawl and Tengnoupal districts continue to rise, the MIYC coordinator asserted and demanded that the illegal Kuki-Chin refugees residing in the state be identified and deported to Myanmar of wherever they came from.
