Jiribam DC inspects JT Road construction

Jiribam, February 28 2025:
Jiribam deputy commissioner Krishna Kumar, inspected the ongoing construction of the Jiri-Tipaimukh (JT) Road from 0.0 km to 32.00 km (Jiribam to Choudhurikhal, Borobekra) on Thursday.
He was accompanied by 156 Bn CRPF commandant Omkar Nath, 20 Dett Bn CRPF CO Haopou Karowng, 38 Assam Rifles CO Prashant Chanduwat, Jiribam and Borobekra SDO Laishram Roshan, MSPDCL DGM Birjeet Longjam, SDC/branch officer Sorokhaibam Sitaranjit, and officials of PWD, among others.
During the visit, the DC checked if the construction company is making good progress and maintaining quality as per the guidelines and Detailed Project Report (DPR) .

Expressing dissatisfaction over pace of the work, he instructed PWD and the construction company to expedite the project to ensure completion before onset of the rainy season.
In addition, he reviewed the quality of ongoing PMGSY roads constructions under RD&PR, Jiribam.
The DC also inspected various developmental projects and important bailey bridges in the district.
As part of his visit, he toured Borobekra Higher Secondary School, Netaji Government High School, Jakuradhor, and Bhutangkhal Government Upper Primary School, where he assessed the condition of the schools, staff strength, and various government-provided facilities.
He further inquired about implementation of the mid-day meal scheme.
During the inspection, he found that most schools faced the common challenge of inadequate teachers and staff shortages.
SDO Laishram Roshan, along with SDC Sorokhaibam Sitaranjit, interacted with internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing at the Borobekra relief camp, set up of Borobekra police station campus.
