The United Committee Manipur has today expressed that it is high time that the people of Manipur should be aware of any contradictory developments that may follow after the peace talks between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India which the later had affirmed to bring out a final agreement in six months on the issue, said a release from the association.
They also urged the Chief Minister to take the matter seriously and responsibly reminding the incident of "The Great June Uprising" of 2001 in which 18 people have laid down their lives in the movement against the threat over territorial boundary of the state of Manipur.
The committee also claimed that the issue is very sensitive and also observed that both the interlocutor of the Government of India and the NSCM (IM) should understand the seriousness of the matter and how a goof in the decisive move of the Government may arouse the sentiments of the people of the affected states by the proposed demand of Greater Nagaland of the NSCN (IM), added the release.
