Meetei Council, Moreh provides relief

Moreh, February 04 2015:
A team of Meetei Council, Moreh led by its president M Thoiba Meitei on Wednesday distributed rice, pulses, potatoes, cooking oil, vegetables and other eatable items to drivers, traders and other persons stranded at Moreh town parking area due to the ongoing bandh along the Imphal-Moreh route and general strike called by United Committee, Manipur.
More than 30 commercial vehicles like Tata Sumo, mini trucks and vans and hundreds of passengers are stuck in the border town as the route was closed due to the indefinite bandh called by the JAC against the Atrocity of Central Security Forces.
The drivers and owners are currently stationed together at the parking area where they also prepare their meals collectively.
The president of MCM, who was accompanied by the advisory team of the council, stated that the decision to extend the assistance was taken in view of the difficulties being encountered by them due to the prolonged detention.
Thoiba further expressed his support to the ongoing agitations as it directly concerns the demand for basic rights of the people.
