Excise units destroy IMFL, DIG liquor, beer

IMFL, DIC liquor and beer estimated to worth around Rs 3,96,889 in total which were seized by Bishnupur, Nambol and Moirang excise stations along with Bishnupur district police in the run to the 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 was destroyed at Excise Station, Bishnupur office on Sunday.
The seized items set on fire in the presence of public included 55.32 litres of IMFL worth Rs 33,189,100 litres DIC liquor (Rs 3,59,200) and 15 litres beef (Rs 4,500) .
Bishnupur Excise OC and district nodal officer O Surjit Singh, Nambol Excise OC Thokchom Manoraja Singh and Moirang Excise OC Moirangthem Kanhai Singh were present during disposal of the seized liquor.
According to O Surjit, an excise enforcement team of Bishnupur district constituted in connection with Lok Sabha election carried out drives and seized the liquor consignment from different areas of the district from January 1 to April 30 .
The liquor consignment was disposed of on Sunday with permission of excise authorities under Section 69 of the Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act, 1991, he added.
On the other hand, large quantity of IMFL and DIC liquor seized from various parts of Kakching and Thoubal districts by Excise Department was burnt/spilled at the office complex of Excise Station, Yairipok, Thoubal on Sunday.
The destroyed liquor was seized between June 1, 2023 and April 30 this year by excise units of Pallel, Kakching, Thoubal, Lilong and Yairipok from diferent locations and kept at Excise Station, Yairipok.
As per the order of excise commissioner Hungyo Worshang issued on May 9, the seized liquor was destroyed Sunday due to space constraints.
Speaking to media persons, Excise deputy SP Kh Remmei informed that 9980.85 litre of liquor destroyed Worth about Rs 10,44,907 in the market consisted of 75.85 litres of IMFL worth Rs 45,507, 44.50 litres of beer (Rs 13,350) and 9860.50 litres of DIC liquor (Rs 9,86,050).SP Excise Thingbaijam Bruclee, Yairipok district nodal officer (Excise) OC Pangambam Ranjit, other officers and Yairipok Municipal Council ex-councillors Akoijam Romesh, Gurumayum Ingocha Sharma and ex-chairperson Keisham Rupachandra were also present during the disposal.
