Imphal, April 10 2025:
Nagaland minister for power and parliamentary affairs, KG Kenye, has called on the district administration and police to exercise heightened vigilance along Phek's border areas with Manipur, where President's Rule is currently in effect.
Kenye made the appeal while attending the monthly meeting of the Phek District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held at the DC's conference hall in Phek on Wednesday.
The meeting, chaired by DC and DPDB vice-chairman John Tsulise Sangtam, was also attended by MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero, according to a report published by The Morung Express citing DIPR sources.
The minister reportedly emphasised the need for coordinated efforts in the border areas to ensure peace and security in light of the political instability in the neighbouring state.
He urged both the administrative and law enforcement agencies to remain proactive and engaged.
The meeting also discussed departmental activities in industries and commerce, prompting discussions where leaders urged closer coordination with the district administration, as well as rising HIV/ AIDS cases, with emphasis on preventive measures and the need for greater public awareness.
