No hiccups in transporting urea: Minister Biswajit

Informing that bids have been opened for the second tender process, which was temporarily halted due to enforcement of Model Code of Conduct for the 18th Lok Sabha election; Agriculture minister Th Biswajit said that after the bidders are finalised, around 6500 MT of urea (around 1.5 lakh urea bags) released by the Ministry for the month of June, would be lifted.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle on Thursday, minister Biswajit informed that the department has around 1.5 lakh urea bags in stock.
As the tender bids are now open, the selected transporters along with registered dealers in the districts will begin lifting of the urea quota, released by the Ministry on monthly basis.
At present, the department has begun distributing some of the urea and other fertilisers to farmers for pre-kharif crops.
Urging the farmers of the state to register themselves on the mobile app launched by the department, he said that this will see to the maintenance of accountability and transparency.
