Imphal, August 26 2019:
The Federation of Haomee has urged the Kuki militant groups, specially the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and the United Peoples' Front (UPF), to withdraw their demand for a separate territorial council for the Kukis in Manipur and reasoned that it will be good to drop all these demands and instead learn to live peacefully in the State.
A press release issued by the secretary publicity of the association today conveyed that all the communities should live together in peace and harmony by respecting the geography and history of Manipur.
Comparing the demand of separate territorial council for the Kukis to the demand of the Bodoland territorial council, it explained that the Bodos are entitled to have separate territorial council because they are the indigenous people of Assam.
Questioning what research the Kuki Research Forum and the Kuki Think Tank are doing if they don't know the proper history of Manipur and the history of the Bodos, the association alleged that the said Research Forum seems busy with manufacturing only fake history of Manipur.
It narrated that Kukis arrived in Manipur in large number during the reign of Maharaj Nar Singh during 1844-1850 and claimed that KNO and UPF are Myanmar based militant organisations which could not raise any voice against the Myanmar Government and as such they entered Manipur and began demanding separate State and territorial council.
Reasoning that the State Government should act strongly and implement NRC and Foreigners' Act 1946 to detect and deport foreigners from Manipur, the Federation of Haomee continued that many Kukis have been living peacefully in Manipur and the hidden agenda of the Central Government is to create ethnic divide among the communities of the North East.
It advised the Kukis to not get trapped in the clutches of the Indian Government and added that they should learn a lesson from the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir recently.
The people of Manipur will never agree to the formation of a separate Kuki territorial council under any circumstance, it added.
Advising the Kuki militant groups to withdrawn their demands, the Federation of Haomee continued that the Think Tanks of Kukis should not misguide the younger generation in the dream of Kuki Nationhood by creating fake history.
They have no right to demand homeland, separate State, separate territorial council for Kukis in Manipur, it explained.
