Deadline set

A JAC formed in connection with the hit and run case of one Maibam Sanjit alias Nanao alias Khamnao (35) of Mongshangei Mayai Leikai, has served a deadline of 48 hours for the authorities concerned to arrest the culprits involved in the incident.
The JAC has also warned that democratic forms of agitation will be taken out if the authorities fail to book the culprits by the deadline.
It may be mentioned that Sanjit s/o M Yaima, was grievously injured when a car allegedly hit the Activa he was driving, in the evening of August 23, near Hiyangthang Bridge.
He was rushed to Raj Medicity where he succumbed to his injuries.
He is survived by a pregnant wife.
The JAC was constituted during a public meeting which was convened at the community hall of Monshangei Mayai Leikai today and it was resolved to seek the help of the Police Department in arresting the culprits involved in the hit and run case within 48 hours, failing which the JAC will carry out democratic forms of agitation until justice is delivered.
The JAC members also agreed not to claim the dead body until the culprits are booked and awarded befitting punishment as per the law.
