Thoubal, October 25 2026:
Commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organised the Fit India Freedom Run 7.0 - 2026 at the historic Khongjom War Memorial in Thoubal district today.
The event was held under the inspiring theme, "Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz," encouraging individuals across all age groups to incorporate at least 30 minutes of physical activity into their daily routine, said a press note by Assam Rifles.
Officers and personnel of Assam Rifles participated alongside their family members, reflecting a shared commitment to well-being.
The programme commenced with a fitness run, followed by a walk to promote regular exercise and inspire the community to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle.
As part of the event, a plogging drive was also conducted along the route, where participants collected litter while jogging and walking.
This combined physical fitness with environmental responsibility, spreading awareness about cleanliness and motivating citizens to maintain clean, healthy public spaces.
The initiative embodied the ideals of discipline, unity, and collective responsibility championed by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel while reinforcing the objectives of the Fit India Movement, added the press note.
