Committee formed to assess Covid-19 deaths

Imphal, May 19 2021:
The state government on Tuesday constituted a seven-member expert committee to assess cause of Covid-19 mortality rate in Manipur, which is currently reeling under the grip of the second wave.
Headed by director of Health Services Dr K Rajo Singh, the expert committee has been entrusted to examine the recent surge in fatalities among the Covid-19 infected patients in the state.
Other members of the Committee include RIMS director Dr A Santa Singh, JNIMS medical superintendent Dr Kh Lokeshwar Singh, Babina Diagnostics managing director Dr Th Dhabali, IMA Manipur State Branch president Dr S Jugindro, MoHFW regional director Dr L Ashananda Singh and Health Services (MC) additional director Dr Lalthari Hmar.
The expert committee shall look into the recent COVID-19 mortality cases to identify causes and suggest remedial as well as preventive steps that may be taken up at hospitals, COVID-19 care centres, and during home isolation.
On the other-hand, Health Services director Dr Rajo directed all medical superintendents of District Hospitals/SDH/CCC, medical officers of CHC and officials in-charge of home isolation to distribute medicines free of cost to all patients in Covid wards, CCC and home isolation.
An order issued Wednesday by Dr Rajo also advised officials concerned that in case of shortage of medicines, responsible staff can collect the same from the Central Medical Store of the Directorate of Health Services.
Both the orders come amid the state witnessing surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths in the second wave, causing fear and anxiety among the public, and most of the hospitals, especially in the twin capital districts packed with COVID-19 patients and shortage of beds.
