Private security agencies advised to follow guidelines

Joint secretary (Home) Dr Mayengbam Veto has said that punitive action would be initiated against private security agencies in case untrained personnel are found employed/engaged.
Speaking as chief guest during the pledging taking ceremony of the second batch trainees of Homeland Group held at Hotel Imphal on Sunday, Dr Veto acknowledged rapid growth in the private security sector across the country in sync with establishment of increasing number of private companies and schools and their need for security.
Noting that private security agencies are not only creating job opportunity for the youth but also moulding the recruited personnel in shouldering huge responsibility, the joint secretary announced that the government will start examining whether or not personnel engaged by such agencies are properly trained.
He also advised private security training institutions to possess licence under the Private Security Agency Regulation Act, 2005 and follow government rules and regulation in running training facilities.
The programme marked by presentation of medals and certificates to best trainees of the batch also had Homeland Group director Rajkumar Babloo as the functional president while Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission chief operating officer Khundrakpam Bobby, Central Agricultural University's Ningthoujam Anilkumar and Indian Red Cross Society, Imphal West secretary Dr Bankimchandra Thokchom were guests of honour.
