Assam Rifles on Saturday celebrated International Mother's Day at Maram Garrison along with Maram Battalion commandant, 153 students and 89 parents.
The celebration was marked by various activities and heartfelt gestures in honour and appreciation of the irreplaceable role of mothers in people's lives.
The atmosphere was filled with love and gratitude as attendees participated in interactive sessions and conversations, cherishing the bond between mothers and their children.
His address, Maram battalion commandant expressed admiration and gratitude towards all the mothers, while highlighting their unwavering support and sacrifices.
He also emphasised the importance of nurturing and celebrating such special relationship, which forms the foundation of a strong and resilient society.
In Noney district, International Mother's Day celebration on Sunday was marked by conduct of special prayers for the mothers and presentation of gifts in churches.
The words of God about the virtuous' wife/women was preached by the preachers while special meals were served to their beloved mothers seeking blessings by family members.
As part of the 487th edition of its Special Sunday programme, Library & Information Centre, Kakching celebrated International Mother's Day along with International Nurses' Day at its Kakching Phoushupat Leikai auditorium on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles celebrated Mother s Day with mothers in Thoubal, Kamjong and Bishnupur districts.
The Thoubal and Nambol Company Operating Bases of Assam Rifles commemorated the Day with mothers in Thoubal and Oinam relief camp in Nambol.
A friendly interaction was carried out with the elderly women of the area at the relief camp.
The event marked the cake cutting ceremony followed by refreshment as mark of gratitude to the selfless service of the mothers, said a release of PRO IGAR (S).
In Kamjong, Assam Rifles organised a high tea event in border villages of Kongkhan, Kamtong, and Nampisha.
The event provided an opportunity for families, especially elderly mothers, to spend quality time with their children.
It concluded with refreshments and engaging conversations with the local community.
Also, informative sessions were conducted focusing on women empowerment and the pivotal role of mothers in both family and society.
These discussions aimed to educate and inspire, highlighting the significance of women's contributions and the importance of recognising their role in community development, maintained the PRO.
On the occasion of International Mother s Day, the Indian Army conducted a series of programmes across the North Eastern states on the theme "Mother - The First Protector" on Sunday.
In Barjala, Agartala, the Indian Army commemorated the day at Apna Ghar' old age home, bringing joy to approx -imately 50 mothers residing there.
The event began with a cake cutting ceremony to symbolise the sweetness of maternal affection followed by the soldiers serving a special lunch and expressing gratitude towards these resilient women, whose sacrifices resonate with the ethos of service and sacrifice.
Simultaneously, in Bishnupur district of Mampur, the Army provided essential medical aid and baby care kits to 14 mothers and their new-borns, affected by ongoing ethnic clashes, to demonstrate its commitment to maternal welfare.
Army medical officers also conducted comprehensive health check-ups to ensure the well-being of both mothers and babies, while distributing vital supplies to safeguard their health during the impending wet season.
Furthermore, in Imphal East district, the Indian Army organised an awareness programme on maternal health issues wherein an army medical officer imparted knowledge on peripartum and postpartum health.
Through interactive sessions and recreational activities, the event emphasised the significance of maternal love and support in shaping future generations.
Additionally, the Indian Army has undertaken various initiatives, including awareness lectures and seminars in the past, emphasising the significance of maternal healthcare practices, equipping mothers with the information and tools necessary to foster healthier communities.
Through regular interactions with Women Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and NGOs, the Indian Army underscores the pivotal role of mothers in shaping the future of their wards.
By highlighting the array of initiatives offered by the Indian Army, mothers are empowered to actively participate in their children's educational and skill development endeavours.
