MUC guest faculties demand withdrawal of registrar

Imphal, October 09 2024: Guest faculty teachers of Manipur University of Culture (MUC) protested in front of Old Secretariat, Babupara on Wednesday demanding withdrawal of MUC registrar.

Around 12.30 pm, the guest faculty teachers protested by squatting at the Old Secretariat gate of commissioner (Art and culture) M Joy and displaying placards inscribed with messages/slogans 'MUC registrar should resign immediately', Save MUC', Stop appointing MCS officers as registrar, finance officers and examination controller of the university' and DP violated MUC Act, 2015' .

Later a police team led by Imphal West SDPO had talk with the protestors and allowed handful of representatives to meet commissioner (Arts and Culture) M Joy Singh at his office.

The protest ended after the representatives arrived at an understanding with the commissioner.

According to MUC Guest Faculty Association president B Gopiraman Sharma, the commissioner assured appointment with chief minister for discussing their demands.

It may be mentioned that the demands of Manipur University of Culture Guest Faculty Association included withdrawal of the university registrar within five days; appointment of regular registrar from regular faculty member or senior administrative staff; proper classroom for conduct of regular class and ensuring facilities for teaching and students' academic activities under NEP, 2020 .
