Comprehensive policy on online class mooted

Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand, Manipur is all set to mount pressure on the government for having a comprehensive policy with regard to conduct of online class for students during COVID-19 pandemic.
On the occasion of 14th Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand Day-2021, the committee organised a webinar on 'Impact of COVID-19 on education and challenge in teaching-learning process' on Monday.
At the end of the webinar moderated by AMCTA president M Lokendro, some resolutions were adopted and one of it was to mount pressure on the government for having a comprehensive policy for conducting online class for students during the pandemic.
It should be part of the policy that online class during pandemic should be made regular and mandatory and mode of online classes conducted by different schools should be monitored and evaluated.
The policy should also include conduct of mass sensitization campaign on importance of conducting online class during pandemic and evaluation of online class to see if it was commensurate with class of the students and level.
The webinar further resolved that suitable class/lesson should be given to students through different media, radio, TV channels and community radio should broadcast programmes related with education.
It also resolved that internet service providers should be directed not to create network problems and government should introduce a scheme for distributing smart phones to poor students so that they are able to join online class.
The committee also decided to mount pressure on the government to implement all the resolutions adopted during the webinar.
