Imphal, March 29 2019:
Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) staged a silent sit-in-protest near the entrance gate of High Court of Manipur, Chingmeirong, today morning demanding judgment order of the writ petition filed by Kishorechandra Wangkhem who is currently detained under NSA.
The protesters covered their mouths with black cloth and held numerous placards during the demonstration.
Kangleingakpa Luwang, general secretary of KKL, appealed for announcement of the reserved order by the Court at the earliest stating that justice delayed is justice denied.
He also said that KKL stands for Kishorechandra and added that the silent protest has been organised as an appeal to the authority concerned to announce the judgement at the earliest.
He continued that the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West had released Kishorechandra on November 26 last year stating that the words, terms and gesture used by Kishorechandra in his video cannot be termed as seditious and that it was mere expression of opinion against the public conduct of a public figure in street language.
However, Kishorechandra Wangkhem was picked up again and detained under NSA by an order of District Magistrate, Imphal West and the period of detention was fixed for one year from the date of his detention, he added.
