Only regional party can truly understand the grievances of the people and solve all issues plaguing the growth of Manipur and North-East, said Ashang Kasar, candidate of North East Indian Development Party (NEIDP) for the Lok Sabha election.
He was speaking at his flag hoisting ceremony at his residence at Macheng village, Mantripukhri, Imphal today.
Ashang Kasar is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
The poll is scheduled to be held on April 11.Explaining the stand of NEIDP, Ashang Kasar said that his party is a platform for indigenous people of the North-East and the primary focus is to unite the people.
"Many National parties have come in the region and we have seen many parties come and go...
but the problems and issues the indigenous people are facing still persist today," he said hinting that National parties are unable to understand the plight of the people.
No major issues have been solved till today, he said blaming the National parties.
Centre too is ignorant and has never heeded to the calls of the people of Manipur and North-East, he added.
Neighbouring States - Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya have Governments formed by regional parties, Ashang said claiming a strong regional party like NEIDP in Manipur can solve all the major issues.
Unity and peaceful growth and development of the State and the whole of North-East is a dream of NEIDP, Ashang said.
Blaming the elected MPs of not doing enough, Ashang asserted that the elected MPs of the State are unable to speak even at the one place they are supposed to.
He identified it as one major reason for the continuous suffering of the people of the State.
President NEIDP CWC, N Samarjit hoisted the party flag and NEIDP Manipur State president and former MLA, Dr Ng Bijoy released the party's manifesto at the ceremony.
Rev Dr Daniel Kashung, Albert Gangmei, M Shungkhai and Rev Dr Halngam Haokip and other eminent personalities attended the flag hoisting and blessing ceremony.
NEIDP also released its manifesto during the flag hoising programme and in its manifesto, the party promised to fight CAB 2016, AFSPA, save territorial integrity and return of Special State Category.
It also promised employment and relief to poor.
Improvement in health, education sector, power/electricity to all households from clean energy and clean drinking water to all are some of the promises NEIDP highligted in its manifesto.
Rs 10 lakh from the MPLADS will be utilised for the welfare of the differently abled persons, said NEIDP.
